New England & London-based Photographer & Creative Director specializing in elevated photography for personal, hospitality, and lifestyle brands.

Expedia Group

Hello, Team Expedia Group!

My name is Krystal, and I want to be your new London-based Sr. Photo Producer.

Four years of study in college, four years of working in-house for two very different companies, and four years of working freelance for hotels, restaurants, and lifestyle brands has given me a very deep and very unique understanding of the Photography industry, and I want to use that skillset to help Expedia Group continue to inspire the world to travel.

Twelve years of experience creates a big body of work, so I gathered some favorites for you.

A little context:
The majority of the images on this page are selects from the 3 years I spent freelancing for BCV Social, the industry-leading social media agency for hospitality brands. Every shoot we did lasted 2-5 days and each time I was responsible for co-producing, co-directing, shooting, and editing a catalog of content that would serve the property’s digital content needs for a full calendar year
(…I know 😂).

Here’s How My Magic Overlaps With Yours

Expedia Travel

Destination content sells the place. If the property I was sent to shoot was a bit basic or maybe hadn’t yet received the same updates as the rest of the portfolio, my job became to highlight the destination. Besides, even when the properties were stunning… no one flies to Hawaii to stay in their room for a week.

Hotels.com

Aspirational content sells the feeling. Good lifestyle photography captures that thing about a place. The magic happens when we produce images that act as bridges between a place someone has never before considered or an experience they didn’t even know they wanted.

VRBO

People-driven content sells the experience. Creating images about people, for people. Because honestly we’d have no need for all these fun destination locations without each other.

6 Reasons Why I’m Perfect for This Role

More than half of the “models” on this page are actually hotel staff and agency colleagues who I asked to jump in to elevate a shot, and then coached through the process when they told me they “weren’t photogenic.” In addition to being a Photographer and Creative Director, I’m also a certified Life Coach and NLP Practitioner. I deeply understand human behavior, and it’s my hidden superpower to problem-solve on the mental and emotional levels.

Working with 20+ different properties meant needing to adapt my shooting and editing styles (this is why there’s such a range in color-handling on this page) across different brand needs while remaining consistent in quality and without making every catalogue look the same. Co-creating the visual identity of three brands at once isn’t at all overwhelming to me, it’s natural.

Every single shoot took place while the hotels were open (and sometimes even at capacity), so it was not uncommon to arrive on property and find out our multi-day itinerary had to be completely reworked… or that the marketing team had scheduled the F+B shoot for the one day the Head Chef is off-site. I think it’s important to be able to think on our feet and pivot without letting inconveniences or unseen circumstances ruin the energy of the day.

I have been a part of projects with budgets ranging from $50 to six figures. I know how to trim and bootstrap when needed, empower creative problem-solving, and prioritize needs across a wide scope.

Because I’ve been on both sides, I understand the needs of a freelancer as well as the company hiring one. I’m excited to help Expedia Group continue to establish their best practices in licensing, contracts, and relationships from both the company and the contractor point of view. Let’s build the reputation of being one of the best companies to partner with in the industry!

Late last year on a total whim I bought a one-way ticket to London. I had a client here and thought I’d come do some work, stay for bit, then move on to explore some other parts of Europe. But I ended up falling completely in love with this city, and now I can’t imagine living anywhere else. A “life is too short” travel moment changed my trajectory in the most wonderful best way possible, and I think that’s what Expedia Group is all about. The passion for exploration swells in me each day I open my eyes in London, and I’m excited to bring that energy to the content I can produce for Expedia Group on this side of the world.
